Getting started

Which documents will be requested?

Onboarding can require corporate records, ownership and director information, identity and address documents for directors, authorised representatives and beneficial owners, applicable licences, and evidence that the business actually operates. The exact list depends on the jurisdiction, entity type, ownership structure, industry, requested services and expected payment flows, and further documents can be requested during the review.

Corporate documents

  • certificate of incorporation;
  • articles or memorandum of association;
  • current registry extract;
  • shareholder register;
  • director register;
  • proof of business address;
  • licences where applicable.

A registry extract should be current. An extract from several years ago does not evidence today's ownership.

People

Identity and address documentation may be required for directors, authorised representatives and ultimate beneficial owners. Additional source-of-wealth information may be requested depending on the profile.

Evidence of business activity

  • customer or supplier contracts;
  • invoices;
  • financial statements;
  • bank or payment statements;
  • website or application information;
  • product documentation;
  • acquiring agreements;
  • processing and settlement statements.

This is the group that most often causes a second round. The purpose is to show that the described business is the business that actually happens, so documents that match the described activity in names, dates and amounts are the useful ones.

Practical rules

  • Send complete documents, not cropped screenshots.
  • Do not redact the counterparty, date or amount.
  • Provide translations where requested.
  • Keep the entity name consistent across documents and the application.
  • Send documents only through the official onboarding flow or the channel your contact named.
